Meeting up
On your first date try to choose, for instance, a busy pub or restaurant. Never arrange to be picked up from your home address.
Arrange for a friend to call your mobile soon after meeting your date to see if all is well.
Your Profile
Honesty has to be the best policy. Try and make every sentence sound positive, not too short but over a hundred words or you may lose their interest. Try and make it friendly, make reference to your hobbies, pastimes and anything of interest to you, also it would be an idea to name your favourite types of music and bands etc.
Read through your profile several times to see if you can improve on it, you can always edit at anytime.
Do not use any offensive language or sexual references, or anything of that nature, as it will be removed and/or your membership will be terminated, so keep it clean.
Do not attempt to put your e-mail address, or references, to it in your profile, any personal contact details will be removed.
Your Photograph
You will receive up to 50 times more response if you have a photograph on your profile. Try and upload a recent photo. Blurred, poorly lit or long distance shots will not be very flattering and ,please, no sunglasses or hats etc. Any nudity is strictly off limits on LDF. Please remember to smile! A smile goes a long way.
Spammers and Scammers
As with all dating sites, there will be occasions where you may be approached for money, we at LDF do try to identify these members.
Please be very cautious and try to check out their validity. Do not send money. Many will come from abroad saying that they are working and living locally. Ask questions about where they live including their postcode etc. this can be checked easily. If for example they say they are in the next county, ask them about the weather, temperature etc. or the topic today on the news. If they are in foreign country they will not be able to give you an accurate reply.
